Market Situation Report (Fearless Wealth)

No video this week because of the holiday weekend in the United States.

Every night before Burgess and I go to sleep we each say five things we are thankful for.

Burgess got the idea from Oprah nine years ago and since that first night I've given thanks thousands of times to many things.

What I give thanks to consistently are my two kids, Bowen (5 years old) and Ever (20 months old). As far as I'm convinced, kids are the only true miracles in this world and I'm thankful I am around and consciously able to appreciate what an amazing time this is.

I also give thanks to my marriage. My wife is truly brilliant. A person's marriage is absolutely the most important investment they will ever make. There is no other investment that comes even close to a strong marriage. Not even owning Apple the past nine years.

I also give thanks to having my parents alive and well. A year ago, my mom was diagnosed with stage three cancer. The doctors described her type of cancer as very serious but treatable. Both my mom and dad are doing well.

And sometimes at night when I have had a bad day, or I am feeling depressed or…you know…life showed up and I do not really want to give thanks to anything because I was feeling sorry for myself. I give thanks to something simple. I give thanks to having good vision. Or being able to walk. Or having a good friend.

My nightly thanks do not have to be big. It is not the size of the thanks that is key, its that for 30 seconds every day. I completely focus on what is working in my life and being thankful for it.

So, tonight before you go to bed. Turn off your internal voice and for 30 seconds give thanks to five things you have.

My five things last night were:

  1. I'm thankful for Bowen and Ever.
  2. I'm thankful for being in a business that helps people.
  3. I'm thankful for having a wife that has the same beliefs as I do.
  4. I'm thankful for my parents being healthy.
  5. And I'm thankful for you.
I know I do not know you personally, but I am thankful that you allow me to share my thoughts and views on the world of money with you each week.

Together, we are growing and protecting your wealth,

Thanks, RC. I'm thankful for you and am glad to have met and spoken with you personally. What you do makes a meaningful difference. Great reminder about thankfulness, marriage and kids. I'm totally enjoying my wife and my baby girl (15 months old).
