When your strategy is not working and appears broken how long will it take it to get back to breakeven? I’m asking because all strategies go through periods when they appear broken. The long-only buy and hold approach that Big-Box advisers tout appeared broken in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and then again in 2008 and half of 2009. Buy and hold is a good strategy 78% of the time. The problem is that other 22%. What is that costing?
